It’s National Safe Boating Week

May 22-28, 2021 marks the observance week and is the annual kick-off of the Safe Boating Campaign. This is a global awareness effort that encourages boaters to make the most of their boating adventures by being responsible…it is also a great opportunity to remind all boaters to brush up on boating safety skills and prepare for the 2021 boating season!

Here are so boating safety tips:

  • Wear a life jacket.
  • Make sure your life jacket is U.S. Coast Guard approved, appropriate for your water activity and fits properly.
  • Know state boating laws.
  • Take a boating safety course.
  • Make sure your boat is prepared.
  • Be sure to know your boat’s capacity.
  • Check the weather, including the water temperature.
  • Dress properly.
  • Always file a float plan.
  • Always follow navigation rules
  • Don’t drink while you boat.
  • Beware of carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Keep in touch.
