Officer Martin and Officer Scroggin were “arrested and locked up” at the Relay for Life Kick Off on June 25th at the Houghton Lake High School field. The Gerrish Township Police Officers Association team sponsored a ‘jail” and were raising money by arresting people and having them “bail out” for a donation. The team also sold kettle corn and had a “guess the number of bullets in a jar” game which was won by Sarah Dodson with a guess of 215 (there were 228 in the jar). Sarah won a day ride-along with one of the officers. The officers association raised $750.00 at the one-day event which is a great start to their $2500.00 goal for 2016. Watch for other team fund-raisers in the future and please help them reach their goal in supporting the American Cancer Society.
