Permanent Prescription Pill Drug Box Installed at Gerrish Police Department

To serve the community on a 24 hour basis, Gerrish Township Police Department now has a permanent Prescription Pill Drop box affixed to the police building next to the front door. The box is available on a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week basis including holidays.

The police department collects the unwanted pills and turns them over to a representative from the Drug Enforcement Administration for incineration in a closed system.

Too often, people think that prescription medications may not be dangerous, but they are prescribed for specific health problems and could be very harmful if taken by someone other than who it is prescribed for. These pills along with others will now be destroyed instead of falling into the wrong hands. The Gerrish Township Police Department and Gerrish Township Advisory Community Team – Neighbors on Watch (ACT-NOW) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have worked together to establish this site as a permanent prescription drug collection site.
