For the first time, Gerrish Township Police Department and a collaboration of community agencies are teaming together to provide the crucial community service of safe prescription drug disposal. Prescription drug abuse rates have increased and the lack of a drug disposal programs has only contributed to the significant, and sometimes deadly, misuse of prescription medications. This National Take Back Initiative will provide an opportunity for the public to surrender pharmaceutically dispensed controlled substances and other medications to Law Enforcement Officers for destruction.
The Prescription Drug Safe Disposal event is set for Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Gerrish Township Police Department from 10:00am to 2:00pm. This event is free and open to the public. Any medications or drugs you have can be turned over for proper disposal without any questions asked.
The Federal Government advises against flushing prescription medications down toilets.
It is encouraged that people use safe disposal events.
This event is a safe way to dispose of your unused / expired medications.
Agencies participating in this event include the Gerrish Township Police Department, DEA and the National Guard Counter Drug Program.
