The Gerrish Township Police Department would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL EMS workers during the 43rd annual National EMS Week! The front-line medical services provided by our community’s EMT’s and Paramedics is invaluable and we are honored to have a great group of them working right here in Gerrish Township!
President Gerald Ford authorized the first EMS Week back in 1974 to celebrate and recognize the important work EMS workers provide to our nation’s communities. Back then, EMS was a new profession and these certified workers just started being recognized as a critical component of emergency medicine and the public health safety net. A lot has changed since then. EMS is not only firmly established now but has become a vital component of the medical care continuum. EMS will continue participating in the nation’s overall healthcare goals as the development of mobile integrated healthcare and community para-medicine is introduced to our communities.
Please take this opportunity to THANK your local Fire and EMS Departments for their valuable service in providing quality pre-hospital care to our community!
