Officer James Scroggin

Officer James Scroggin was hired as a full-time road patrol officer in November of 2015 and is currently in his 14-week Field Training Program with Gerrish Twp. Police Department.

James grew up in the St. Helen area and has lived there for 21 years, he graduated from Houghton Lake High School in 2005.  In 2008 he joined the Richfield Twp. Department of Public Safety as a certified Firefighter and EMT and in 2010 completed a course to become a reserve police officer for RTDPS.  James has two lifesaving awards and also a letter of excellence for his professionalism on an accident scene.  Officer Scroggin attended Kirtland Community College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Fire Science Administration in 2013.  He completed the Kirtland Regional Police Academy in the fall of 2014 and was awarded the Excellence in Defensive Tactics Award.

James enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles and spending time with friends and family.  He is very excited to be part of the Gerrish Township Police Department team and looks forward to meeting people from the community.
