GERRISH TOWNSHIP FIRE/EMS UNIT 225 Unit 225 is our newest piece of equipment although the chassis is one of our oldest. The chassis is a 1985 Chevrolet 4x4 with a flat bed conversion. This truck is a special purpose vehicle capable of attacking both brush fires and structures fires with the foam packages. The fire apparatus is a Waterous Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS). It has a 200 gallon water supply tank aboard. Because of the compressed foam efficiency, the water volume is greatly increased to as much as 7 to 10 times greater capacity. This unit was refurbished in 2004 at a cost of $35,943 assisted by a DNR grant which covered $14,476 of the cost. As a cost saving measure we used the above 1985 chassis which was our chassis from the previous brush truck that was in good shape. |
