GERRISH TOWNSHIP FIRE/EMS EXPLORER POST #2902

"Dedicated to helping young men and women explore the Fire and EMS service"

What is exploring?

Exploring is a Learning for Life career education program sponsored through the Boy Scouts of America for young adults 14 to 21 years of age.

Exploring programs have five areas of emphasis:

Career Opportunities

Life Skills

Citizenship

Character Education

Leadership Experience

What do the members of the GTFD Explorer Post do?

First they develop their own program; they decide what their interests in the Fire and EMS service are and plan activities to explore those interests.

They work directly with the current GTFD Fire and EMS staff on training, operating the radio desk on calls, assisting with the water supply fill station, competing in the Michigan Firemen's Memorial Festival Water ball competition, planning EMS ride alongs and many other hands on experiences.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT AND IT'S FUN TOO..............

The Explorers also participate in all Department functions including training, Department meetings, dinners, Association meetings and Department social activities.  They also do fund raising to earn money for their program activities.
