UPCOMING EVENTS IN GERRISH TOWNSHIP

On Wednesday May 14, 2008 at 4:00 p.m., ACT-NOW plans to do their spring road clean up

project.  Interested volunteers will meet at the Gerrish Township Police Department

to organize the effort.  ACT-NOW cleans Co Rd. 100 from the

Cross Country Ski Headquarters at the North and Hillsdale Rd to the South.

Please come and do your part to keep our Community clean. After the clean up, please

join us for a gathering of Pizza and Pop.

On Monday, May 19, 2008 @ 7:00 p.m. at the Gerrish Township Hall, the scheduled program

will be the first of two of a "Focus on Higgins Lake, Life of the Lake" series.

It is intended to raise the awareness of good lake stewardship and the efforts that happen daily to keep

Higgins Lake as pristine as possible.  The first will focus on Water quality

testing, boat washing, milfoil and swimmers itch efforts.  Laurie Tudor will provide

the program.  We look to see a great crowd for this topic.  What could be more

important to us than Higgins Lake and securing it's future.

On Monday, June 16, 2008 @ 7:00 p.m. at the Gerrish Township Hall, the scheduled program

will be the second of two of a "Focus on Higgins Lake, Life of the Lake" series.  We will have

presenters from the Higgins Lake Foundation and the Huron Pines Foundation.  These two

groups work hard on the preservation of Higgins Lake.   Come and join us

to see what we all can do to help Higgins Lake stay healthy.

On Monday, July 21, 2008 @ 6:00 p.m. at the Gerrish Township Hall, ACT-NOW will host it's

Annual meeting and elections at the Gerrish Township Hall Gazebo. 

This event is our annual Picnic format and this year, we have scheduled the

Roscommon County Sheriff Dive Team to come and show off their newly purchased

Side scan sonar unit as well as their other diving equipment that they use for

recovery operations in our inland lakes in the County.

We will take our usual break and will have no ACT-NOW meeting the month of August 2008.
