OFFICER JONAH SCHUTTE
Jonah grew up and lived in the Whittemore area of the State where he graduated in 2000 from Whittemore Prescott Schools. During his years at Whittemore Prescott High school Jonah showed his commitment to excellence by contributing to two wrestling State Championships as well as a runner up in the State football Championship. He is proud of his "best sense of humor" and "class clown" awards at school.
After High school, Jonah attended Kirtland Community College and received an Associates Degree in the applied Science of Criminal Justice. While attending college, Jonah worked full-time on a Crop farm in Prescott and played on the Kirtland Community College golf team for two years. He then attended the Kirtland Regional Police Academy and graduated with the 18th Academy in April of 2004. He maintained a 3.87 GPA in college and while in the Academy, he was awarded for his work in the Defensive Tactics portion of the Academy.
In June of 2004, Jonah was hired by the Clare County Sheriff Department as a part-time Marine Patrol Officer. He quickly gave up that position when offered a Patrol Officer job at this Department. Jonah was hired at the Gerrish Township Police Department in July of 2004. Since his employment with the Gerrish Township Police, Jonah was able to secure the Department's annual "Best shot" trophy and since he has taken on the role of the Firearms instructor for the Department.
